American Harvest Cocktail Reception – The Rosso Cosmopolitano Fizz

First Course: City Roots Red Romaine “Wedge” Salad with Herb-Grilled n’ Chilled SC Shrimp, Spinning Spider  Creamery “Black Mountain Blue” Cheese, Pickled Red Onion and House-Smoked Bacon. Served with Creamy Herb Vinaigrette.

Nose to Tail Dinner March 11th 7-10pm

Join us March 11th at City Roots Farm from 7pm -10pm for our fourth installation of the Nose to Tail Dinner Series! This dinner will be featuring main courses by Alex Suaudom du Monde of Baan Sawan Thai Bistro and starter courses by two special Guest Chefs!

We will be featuring pork from Wil-Moore Farms; courses will be paired with wine. Marshall White and Sam Suaudom will be collaborating on a signature cocktail featuring American Harvest Vodka.

This will be a family style sit down dinner based on the northern Thai tradition of the kahn toke banquet AND preparing the pig “caja china,” or Cuban Chinese Box style.

Harvest Dinner – Monday, December 3rd

This is our last dinner for 2012 and we are making it extra special. We are not only celebrating the season but the harvesting of City Roots Tilapia! After two years and a bad storm that knocked out the first harvest, they are finally ready and you are getting the first taste! On top of that American Harvest Organic Spirit is kicking it up a notch and you will be able to taste multiple specialty cocktails prepared by Ryan Ditman from @116. Harvest Dinner – Monday, Nobember 12

116 Espresso and Wine Bar, Executive Chef Ryan Whittaker, City Roots Farm Manager, Eric McClam and Vanessa Driscoll from the green event planning company, The Southern Greenie are excited to bring you Columbia’s first Harvest Dinners.

Enjoy a unique dining experience at City Roots Farm. Executive Chef Ryan Whittaker will be preparing meals with fresh produce harvested that day from City Roots Farm. We will be partnering with other farms for local beef, pork, chicken and fish. Every dinner will be a surprise, the menu will not be known until the day of.

Dinners start with a cocktail made with American Harvest Organic Spirits mixed with fresh seasonal juices and fruit. You will be able to enjoy a cocktail while exploring the farm. Then everyone will proceed to the table in the field for a sit down family style dinner paired with sustainable beer or wine.

Your local Chef and Farmer will be on hand to dine with you and talk about the harvest menu and the farm.  After dinner you will be able to experience dessert from Pink Magnolia and purchase produce packages as well as order the beer or wine featured during the dinner. It will be a unique sustainable dinning experience.

Nose to Tail Dinner   Monday October 15th

Join us for an Argentinean Asado featuring local beef cooked over open fires by Chefs Kristian Niemi and Travis Rayle, as well as an all-star brigade of local foodies including lawyer/musician/filmmaker Tom Hall; farmer/food entrepreneur Emile DeFelice and foodie/photographer Forrest Clonts. This will be a fun, fiery event with lots of wood-fired beef and Argentinean wines, as well as a fall-inspired American Harvest cocktail by Kristian.

Nose-to-Tail Dinner on the Farm, September 17 7:00pm- 10:00pm

We invite the community to unite again at City Roots Farm and celebrate the artistry of breeding, preparing and dining nose-to-tail on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Chef Ricky Mollohan from Mr. Friendly’s, Solstice Kitchen and Cellar on Greene helms the second installment of the popular local dinner series.  A Greek lamb dinner will be prepared, feature a lamb from Big Moon Farms and produce from City Roots Farm.

A reception, with specialty Greek cocktails, will proceed to a seated dinner featuring plated and family-style courses. Greek wines will be paired with the courses throughout the dinner.  The four-course meal will include dessert.

American Harvest Bartender Charity Challenge, September 23rd

It is that time of year again for the American Harvest Bartender Charity Challenge. Prizes will be given again for best drink by the judges and popular vote. Its time to take the talent to the farm!We had a great turn out last year and so much fun. This year the event is raising money for Slow Food Columbia and City Roots. There will be a popular vote as well as a judges vote!
